JOB DESCRIPTION: INTERPRETER /PROJECT WORKER - PANEL
(UKRAINIAN CRISIS RESPONSE)
Cairde is a health advocacy organisation working to tackle health
inequality among ethnic minority communities by improving ethnic
minority access to health services, and participation in health
planning and delivery.
Cairde?s two Health Information and Advocacy Centres (Dublin and
Balbriggan) aim to provide relevant, accurate and culturally
appropriate health information, support and advocacy to minority
ethnic community members and groups to enable them to access and use
health services.
Ukrainian Crisis Response is a partnership between HSE, Ana Liffey and
Cairde. This project aims to provide health assessment and
introduction to the Irish Health System to the Ukrainian Beneficiaries
of the Temporary Protection (BOTPs).
ROLE
The main role of the Interpreter / Project Worker is to assist with
the translation from English to Ukrainian and from Ukrainian to
English during health assessments, and medical appointments of the
Ukrainian refugees.
The Interpreter / Project Worker will work as part of the Ukrainian
Crisis Response Mobile Health Units or independently, depending on the
assignment. The Role Holder will be required to travel to BOTPs
accommodation, hospitals and other health settings at various
locations in the Dublin region and surrounding areas.
The Interpreter / Project Worker will also collaborate with other
projects within Cairde and identify emerging trends and issues
affecting Ukrainian BOTPs.
Following a recruitment process a Panel will be formed. The
Interpreters / Project Workers appointed to the Panel will be invited
to work as & when hours are available and to provide relief for other
Ukrainian Crisis Response Interpreters / Project Workers. There is a
possibility for this position to evolve into part time or full time.

ABILITIES/ATTRIBUTES
* Excellent communication skills.
* Commitment to equality of health outcomes for all.
* Computer literate (Microsoft Office).
* Fluency in written and spoken English.
* Fluency in written and spoken Ukrainian.
* Willingness to travel to various locations within the Dublin
region and surrounding areas.
* Experience in interpreting or working in a medical setting
